Often times the real victims of foreclosure are... The Family Pets!
Unfortunately, the family dog or cat are not always able to remain with their owners.
The worst outcome for some of these animals is... Not surviving.
Help Foreclosure Pets was created by Dallas-Fort Worth foreclosure expert and real estate mentor, Jim Watkins.
Jim is an avid dog enthusiast and since he was 20 years old, he has owned five dogs... All of them have been rescues. On his main website, DFW Mentor, he has promoted the Golden Retriever Rescue of North Texas since he adopted two brothers in 2006 who he refers to as "The Bumbling Brothers." In addition to his two Golden Retrievers, Jim also rescued a 3-year old Yellow Lab in 2008.
Jim came up with the idea of helping animals affected by foreclosure by contacting owners before the foreclosure process is completed. He hopes that the mailer to foreclosure homeowners will ultimately lead to thousands of pets finding new homes before their owners consider taking them to a shelter or leaving them behind at the house they once called home.
For Help Foreclosure Pets to be effective, the site needs volunteers from the general public to post their contact information and what help they are able to provide (adopting, fostering, etc.) on the Pet Connection Board.
Help Foreclosure Pets also relies on individual and corporate sponsors to see that the mailers continue to reach pet owners who may need help.
Addison based Foreclosure Listing Service, Inc. is H.F.P.'s main sponsor as they generously donate the monthly foreclosure lists for homeowners in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin & Denton Counties.
